Making Space 2016 was an international design competition celebrating excellence in the design of spaces for children and young people. It culminated in a two-day conference and awards dinner, held in Glasgow in November 2016.Part of the Festival of Architecture 2016 and the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design, the project was managed by Children in Scotland in association with the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS), with support from the Scottish Government, Architecture and Design Scotland, the Scottish Futures Trust, and Taylor Wimpey. This publication reflects on the journey to Making Space 2016 — the conference and awards — hearing from the young people directly involved in the process.
